Who knew? I just found out myself that there is a day in the calendar year set aside just for Burgers! The International Burger Day! This year it was on Sunday, May 28th.
After craving a burger for the last few days I decided to make a gourmet burger at home – then OMG! I discovered it was actually burger day! The timing was impeccable!
With that said, I’d like to share my latest and greatest burger with all of you! I tend to create dishes or recipes around what I am craving at the time. In my particular case, I was itching for bacon, mushrooms, blue cheese, and pickles!
To make a good burger, you must have tasty buns (preferably from a bakery or homemade), quality organic mince, and fresh ingredients. If you skip this tip you may not end up with the gourmet burger you desperately desire.
This recipe below will assist you in making an Angus Bacon, Mushroom & Blue Cheese Burger with all the toppings!

Method for cooking your delicious burger!
First, fry off bacon until crispy. Then chop and set aside
While your bacon is cooking, boil water for your sweet potatoes. Once at a boil, cook your sweet potato wedges and cook until al dente (just underdone). Once cooked strain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process and set aside.
In a medium bowl bring together Angus Beef mince, cumin, paprika, parsley, oregano, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, sea salt and cracked pepper. Mix together with your hands and flatten into 2 patties- set aside.
On a grill surface (pan or BBQ), warm and grill your buns until golden brown and set aside.
Using the hot pan or grill, place your burgers. Cook for 2-3 min on one side then flip. Layer bacon, mushrooms and blue cheese and cover with a pan or grill top to encourage the cheese to melt over the bacon and mushrooms. Cook for 3-4 min.
Finish the sweet potato wedges by frying them up in a hot pan or oven with salt and pepper. This can be done simultaneously while cooking the burger.
Layer the burger bottom to top! Use this order:
Bun with Mustard, Burger (with your bacon, mushrooms, and blue cheese), Lettuce, Spinach, Red Onion, Tomatoes, Pickles, Rocket, Bun with Mayo and Mustard.
Serve your burger and wedges side by side on a plate, board, basket, or whatever your heard desires.
